SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

LAMP S is a dimmable lamp which consist of a recyclable DIY lampshade that aimed to encourage user to balance work and play.

Target Customer Young couples 25 to 35 years old.

 

With a Novel Twist‧

People usually are fascinated with extraordinary things.Discovering and exploring during the usage of products could stimulate the creativity. On the other hand, timeless enjoyment, such as puzzles could create timeless products to customers.

The GM6 182 suppoorts both non-isolated (buck) and isolated (forward) designs. It has a built in EZ Dimming feature. It counts the number of wall switch toggling and changes the light output accordingly.

 

To retrofit an existing lighting fixture with a dimming deature, all it takes is to replace a conventional light bulb with a GM6182 LED ligh bulb. There is no need for rewing, or installing a triac dimmer.

 

PROCESS

The user could design their own lampshade by assembling.Brightness could be control – Multi-use lamp (Ambient and Task)To seek balance between work and play.

 

INTERIM

I came up with a conclusion that, among the three proposed idea, puzzle lampshade give the most obvious shadow, it is also the most easy way for the users to DIY their own lampshade

This design introduced a brand new technology “EZ dimming”, which gives high power factor even the lamp is dimmed. In nowadays market,

although many light bulb claimed that energy could be saved when the light is dimmed, it might not be the fact.

 

As most of the light bulb make use of resistance for the dimming function, the life span of light bulb actually shorten, even more energy were used.

 

Therefore, our design would like to introduce this new technology so as to achieve sustainable purpose. The EZ dimming system will be introduced later.

 

TO SEEK BALANCE BETWEEN WORK AND PLAY

This design make use of the dimming function, so as to provide two lamp function, task and ambient light.

 

By providing the dimming function, a multi-task lamp could be introduced. On one hand, it could help to reduce the purchasing of more products, it also aimed to encourage people to relax by adjusting the light.

 

At the same time, shadows could be appreciate.

 

 

BUILD THEIR OWN LAMP

 

As our target users are young couples that would love to start a new family. We believed that they would like to decorate or design their home by themselves. Therefore, we provided different components for them to assembly their unique lamp.

 

We hope that this feature will stand out, as the users might feel fun during the building process, moreover, a lampshade that allowed them to design by themselves might be interesting and prior among the dull and mechanized products in the market.

PLAY WITH SHADOWS

 

We discovered a interesting fact that, dim light would give out a sharper and clearer shadow, in opposite, bright light will fade out the shadows. That’s why, our lampshade allowed the users to build their lampshade as well as creating shadows themselves.

 

In the process of discovering positive and negative spaces, we’re sure that the users (the young couples) could have fun. On the other hand, as the shadows would not be obvious when bright light is used, it would not disturb the users when they take it as a working lamp.

 

In contrast, they could have fun shadows when they use it as ambient light, for example, when they’re listening to music.
